Sports are not just physical activities performed to maintain health; they are tools of development that allow an individual to achieve success, accept defeats, internalize them, and mature.
The relationship between Orhan Erkut and sports has been crucial in nearly every stage of his life. Starting from childhood, this relationship has also contributed to his personal and social development.
Orhan Erkut began engaging in sports with gymnastics as a child, holding an amateur athlete license. This early experience allowed him to learn the fundamental disciplines of sports and physical coordination more easily, fostering his aptitude for sports. Later, he became involved with swimming at the Manisa Spil Specialized Sports Club. Swimming taught him the importance of team effort and individual performance and enhanced his physical endurance.
During his primary and secondary education years, Orhan Erkut turned to different sports, such as football, table tennis, and chess, and he played basketball, tennis, and bridge during his high school and university years. After university, his active sporting life was almost exclusively limited to the bridge; he still applies the strategic and mental contributions of the bridge to his life.
Orhan Erkut believes in the profound impact of sports on human life. According to him, sports are not just physical activities performed to maintain health; they are tools of development that allow an individual to achieve success, accept defeats, internalize them, and mature.
He continues his sporting activities today with only cycling, walking, and Pilates.
